Cellular Respiration

Cellular Respiration 4.4 Overview of Cellular Respiration      When there's oxyen, cellular respiration lets out chemical energy from sugar and other carbonbased molecules to make ATP. This respiration occurs in mitochondria. Mitochondrion cannot make ATP from food. Glycolysis breaks down glucose to two three-carbon molecules and makes two molecules of ATP, this process doesn't need oxygen. Two parts of the mitochondrion are involved in cellular respiration. Krebs cycle make molecules that brings energy to the next part of cellular respiration. This cycle takes place in the matrix of the mitochondrion. 38 ATP molecules are created from one glucose molecule. I learned more about the cellular respiration. All I knew back then was that photosynthesis and cellular respiration were opposites. I didn't know about the glycolysis and the krebs cycle. I also never learned where photosynthesis and cellular respiration occur.   4.5 Cellular Respiration Detail (A)

Leaves and Photosynthesis

Leaves and Photosynthesis 1) These leaves are from the flame tree. The tree is about 8 feet and doesn't get all the sunlight, some of its parts are covered by a taller tree. The leaves are about 1-2 centimeters. The leaves are rectangular with circular ends. Being tiny helps them get sunlight and they would need less sunlight and carbon dioxide for photosynthesis to occur. They are also spread out which would help them get sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water easier. I estimate that there are about 250,000 leaves in this tree. 2) These leaves are from the coconut tree. The tree is about 16 feet and it gets a lot of sunlight. There are no other trees blocking it from getting sunlight. The leaves are about 3-4 feet. The leaves are rectangular with a sharp end. The tree's size helps it get a lot more sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water for photosynthesis. Unlike the leaves in flame trees, these leaves would need more to feed the whole leaf. They are also spread out f

Mutations

"Mutations" The animal that I chose is the coconut crab, or other crabs in Memorial Park. The crab will have stronger and larger crab claws. This would help the organism to hunt for its food faster and more efficient. I think that the other organisms who lives in the same area will have some impact. They will have less food than before because the crabs would most likely get the food they're suppose to eat. I think that crabs would most likely reproduce faster than before which would cost the population of some animals like fish, worms, clams decrease due to the increase of crabs. Other food such as nuts, coconuts, and more would also decrease because the coconut crab would most likely get to open and eat it faster. This would affect other animals in the wilderness that eats the same food which would cause competition. This change would be against because the crabs claws would be sharper which would make it harder for humans to catch it for food.
